Texas AgriLife Research Bioenergy Initiative
Texas AgriLife research scientists are working jointly with private sector partners to accelerate existing research programs to solve the planet’s future energy needs. This “Field to Fuel Tank” initiative includes:
Designing an economically sustainable oilseed crop and algae production program for bio diesel and jet fuel, as well as development of lignocellulosic crops for conversion to gasoline
- Developing agronomic practices for new biofuel feedstocks and characterizing land for biomass production using modeling
- Working with equipment manufacturers to develop an economical, sustainable production and delivery system for dedicated bioenergy crops
- Optimizing microbial and enzymatic systems as well as thermal conversion technologies
- Focusing on economic, policy, and environmental analyses
